Inventor Jerome Case established the business of CASE within Racine, when he started the building of threshing machines. Later the company gained recognition globally as the first manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural use. Eventually, the company grew to become the world's largest manufacturers of steam engines.
By 1912, Case had become established within the construction equipment business. The quickly began to produce road building machinery such as graders and steam rollers. Case grew their construction machinery business through various acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation in 1957. Case had expanded their company by the middle part of the 1990s to become the leading producer of light-sized to medium-sized construction machines.
Case merged with the corporation New Holland during the year 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This company became responsible for advertising several of the world's top brands of construction and agricultural equipment.
