Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries during the year 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift which operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" which was utilized to raise and lower the hoist. This device greatly impressed customers and hence, the name was established.
Genie has moved into numerous new markets, because the need for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, as the requirements for new machines to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. For instance, Genie went into production with articulated booms, light towers, man-lifts, stick booms and telehandlers.
Because of the economic recession during the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to secure a partner who held the same values. They partnered up together with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring equipment manufacturers all over the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the initial years after the sale, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Hence, all Genie machines continue to be marketed under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their customers. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the quality and efficiency in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing outstanding support. These are the very work practices which have made Genie a trusted brand name over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line machinery.
The DC and Bi-Energy machines provided by Genie provide emission-free, quiet operation even in the most delicate work environments. Where the machine needs to be driven significant distances, such as in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator together with the advantages of a 48V DC equipment.
As opposed to any of the various types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms provide greater horizontal reach overall. These machines are great for limited access areas in construction and other industrial environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These equipment provide supreme traction and the drive speed you require in order to travel around the work site and job area.
