Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by a variety of sources. They could run utilizing LP gas or liquid propane, gasoline, diesel or battery. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for many applications. There are some facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This enables forklifts to be refueled whenever they require. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders that can be changed out when the machine must be refueled.
So as to avoid possible serious injury, certain safety measures should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For example: be certain to put on the appropriate safety equipment like goggles or safety glasses and heavy gloves. Make certain that you turned off the forklift ignition before changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed firmly. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Don't forget that it will turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use any kind of wrench or a metal tool on these connections. They are meant to be tightened only by using the hand.
