How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when utilizing a scissor lift, because the convenience of working and the lift basket's safety gives peace of mind while trying to carry out tasks that would have otherwise needed utilizing the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machinery make it the best option for performing jobs from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries will have to be charged after a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any particular equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
The machine needs to be parked near an electrical output in order to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area should also be in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button located inside the lift basket, near the charger or the control box. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Usually, older units will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in an area which is well ventilated and afterward plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger can potentially occur.
