Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage areas orderly and to pile up pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck is available in quite a few types: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is similar to the stand-up, is usually used. This particular version consists of telescopic forks designed to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not just slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This model is ideal in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Usually more than one type of reach truck is required inside warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to utilize and can make the most of available storage space while increasing production.
